Device’s Last Farewell To Astralis

There might not be a more iconic duo in the history of Counter-Strike than device and Astralis. The famous Danish CS2 team Astralis announced the departure of device and Magisk from the team.

Device’s Last Farewell To Astralis

The End of an Era: Device and Astralis Part Ways

As we talked about in our previous article, devvy and Magisk were likely to part ways with Astralis. Now the Danish Organization confirmed that the legendary couple are departing the team.

A Legacy of Four Majors and a Change in Strategy

Device is one of the all-time most successful players in Counter-Strike. He has won four Majors and two Major MVPs with Astralis. We will always remember device as an Astralis player, but it seems now that this will be the last time device will be seen in the ”starred CS2 shirt.” The organization and the player are just trending in opposite directions. Astralis has been expected to disband if success continues to elude them. The organization has faced significant pressure since delisting from the Nasdaq First North Growth Market in late 2023, shifting their focus toward financial sustainability over massive roster buyouts (Source: Astralis Group Investor Relations).

“Hungry for a New Chapter”: Device’s Parting Words

“Leaving Astralis once again has not been an easy decision,” device said in Astralis’ statement. “For some time now, I have been hungry to try something new, and I am very much looking forward to starting the next chapter. I am leaving Astralis on good terms, just like last time, and I wish the guys all the best.”

Astralis Goes International as Magisk Departs Again

Astralis also announced that they will be exploring international options when recruiting replacements for device and Magisk. The legendary player Magisk is also leaving the team for a second time. He arrived in the team in September after ”stavN” stepped away due to ”personal circumstances.” During device’s and Magisk’s time, the team reached playoffs at FISSURE Playground 2 and IEM Chengdu, and featured at the StarLadder Budapest Major.

Roster Mania: Reunions and Future Destinations

We still don’t know who Astralis will bring in to the team to aim for titles again. Device is likely to sign with 100 Thieves on a huge deal to reunite with gla1ve. Magisk has not been the hottest CS2 player as of late, but it is probable, with all the reshuffles in the CS2 roster mania, that he will find his place in one of the Tier-1 teams.
