ESL Pro League Season 25 has been officially scheduled for Saudi Arabia, running 6-14 March 2027 with a fully on-LAN format and a final stage played in front of a live audience. It’s the first time the storied league has ever been held in the region, and confirms what the past two years of investment have signalled: Saudi Arabia is settling in as a permanent fixture on the top-tier CS2 calendar.
The bigger prize pool
The total prize pool climbs to $1,250,000 — $300,000 player share and $950,000 club share — a notable jump from Season 24. ESL’s continued investment in the Pro League reflects the broader Savvy Gaming Group strategy, with the region having already hosted the Esports World Cup 2025 in Riyadh, where The MongolZ defeated Aurora 3-0 in the final.
Format and qualification
Sixteen teams enter, eight reach playoffs. Twelve invitations come via the Valve Regional Standings, with four slots reserved for ESL Challenger League regional winners. Seeding draws on the February 2027 VRS — keeping the league tightly aligned with the official ranking pipeline that now drives most major CS2 tournament invites.
Why this matters beyond Season 25
The decision is part of a larger trajectory. Saudi Arabia’s calendar already includes Esports World Cup 2026 (12-23 August, $2M, 32 teams) and Esports World Cup 2027 (16 July-1 August). Adding ESL Pro League to that mix turns the region into one of the highest-volume tournament hubs in the world — and forces the EU/NA event calendar to plan around it for the foreseeable future.
