Demo· Match demo file

A demo is a recording of a CS2 match that can be replayed in the game client. Pros review demos to study opponents; analysts and coaches use them to tag rounds for tactical analysis.

What is a CS2 demo?

Every competitive CS2 match produces a demo file (.dem) that contains the full state of the server tick-by-tick. Replaying a demo lets you spectate any player from any angle, slow or speed up time, and rewind. Pros spend hours per week reviewing their own and opponents' demos — typically tagged with key moments (utility usage, positioning errors, failed executes). Analytics companies like scope.gg and Leetify parse demos automatically to produce tactical breakdowns. Demos are the raw ground truth behind every public stat.
