Editorial Standards

How CS2Bet reports the news. Sourcing, fact-checking, corrections, AI disclosure, diversity, and the named editors accountable for every story we publish.

Our editorial mission

CS2Bet covers professional Counter-Strike 2 with the same rigour mainstream sports outlets bring to football or basketball. Every article that appears here is written or commissioned by a named human editor, reviewed for factual accuracy, and updated when new information supersedes it. We do not publish AI-generated articles without human authorship and editorial review. We do not run paid press releases as editorial. We do not change a published story without disclosing the change.

This page is the public version of the standards every editor agrees to follow.

Sourcing policy

We distinguish clearly between three classes of information:

  • Confirmed — first-party (team announcement, player social media, Valve roster lock, official tournament page). We treat these as facts.
  • Reported — published by a credible secondary source (HLTV, dust2.us, Liquipedia, Dexerto, ESPN Esports). We attribute by name and link to the original.
  • Rumoured — anonymous sources, leaks, message-board posts. We label "rumoured" in the headline and refuse to repeat without independent confirmation.

For statistics and match data, we use professional esports data feeds and verify against HLTV and Liquipedia where the events are covered. Per-event prize-pool figures default to the tournament organiser's announced number; sticker-revenue figures are clearly tagged as estimates.

Fact-checking process

  1. Writer cites every claim in the draft to a primary or credible secondary source.
  2. Section editor reviews for accuracy, sourcing, conflicts of interest, and tone before publication.
  3. Stats and dates are cross-checked against at least one external reference (typically HLTV or Liquipedia) before any story involving numbers goes live.
  4. Breaking news may publish before full third-party confirmation; in that case the article is clearly labelled "Developing" and the verification status is updated as new information arrives.
  5. Errors are corrected publicly on our corrections page with the original wording, the corrected wording, and the time of correction. We do not silently rewrite stories.

Corrections policy

If you believe an article on CS2Bet contains an error of fact, email contact@cs2bet.io with the URL, the disputed claim, and a source for the correct version. We aim to respond within one business day. Typo and grammar fixes are made silently; substantive factual corrections are logged with date, time, and the prior wording on the corrections page.

AI disclosure

We use AI tools internally to accelerate research, transcribe video, and assist with first-draft writing of factual sections (glossary definitions, tournament prize-distribution explainers). Every article that uses AI assistance is reviewed and edited by a named human editor who takes accountability for the final version. We do not publish AI-only content. We do not allow AI to fabricate quotes, sources, or statistics. Every prediction, tip and PrizePicks selection on this site is written by a named editor — not generated by a model.

Diversity commitment

CS2Bet's editorial team is intentionally international. We commission writers from Europe, North America, South America and Asia-Pacific to cover regional scenes with first-hand knowledge. We actively cover women's CS2 events (ESL Impact, Stockholm Stars Series, Dust2 Female Cup), the Brazilian and CIS scenes, and emerging Asian leagues. When we get coverage gaps wrong, we acknowledge them and invite reader feedback at contact@cs2bet.io.

Unnamed sources policy

We do not run unnamed-source stories about player misconduct, substance use, mental-health speculation, or personal life unless (a) the matter is in the documented public interest, (b) at least two independent unnamed sources corroborate, and (c) a section editor and the editor-in-chief approve the publication. Anonymous tips are otherwise used to inform reporting but never quoted directly.

Affiliate & sponsorship disclosure

CS2Bet earns affiliate commission when readers click through to and register at certain bookmaker partners. These commissions never influence editorial coverage of those operators or their competitors. Operator-review pages are clearly labelled and ranked independently by our analyst team using a fixed methodology published at /methodology/. Sponsored content, where it appears, is labelled "Sponsored" and is not written by our editorial team. Full breakdown on the affiliate disclosure page.
