FaZe Clan delivered the upset of the BLAST Rivals 2026 quarter-finals, taking down G2 2-1 in a series defined by a single moment: a 2v5 Mirage clutch from Twistzz and frozen in regulation, followed by a clean overtime closeout. After weeks of inconsistency under the new IGL structure, FaZe finally looked the part of a top-tier roster.
Dust2 set the rhythm
The opener stayed close throughout — neither side could pull clear, with FaZe taking the half 6-6 after several anti-eco upsets. broky’s role here was crucial; his fragging and clutch play kept G2 from snowballing economy. Post-half, FaZe found their CT identity and edged the map 13-11. SunPayus had moments for G2 but couldn’t string them into a sustained period of control.
Ancient was a G2 demolition
Map two went the other direction completely. G2 stormed to 8-0 from the T side, executed cleanly, and never relinquished control. FaZe’s brief push from 4-11 trailed by Twistzz could only narrow the gap; G2 closed the map convincingly to level the series.
Mirage and the 2v5 that turned it
Mirage was chaos. G2 led 7-5 at half, won the second pistol, and looked set to close the series. The turning round came late — frozen and Twistzz alive against five, somehow turning a near-certain G2 round into a momentum reversal. From there FaZe played with the psychological edge, dragged the map to overtime, and closed it 16-13. frozen finished the series as FaZe’s most impactful player; broky and jcobbb backed him up; Twistzz delivered the calls and the clutches when both mattered.
