PGL Astana 2026 reached its decisive Swiss-stage day with two 2-0 matchups locked in: FURIA vs Spirit and MOUZ vs 9z. Win and you’re through to playoffs. Lose and you drop to 2-1 with one more series to navigate.
The FURIA revival comes to its biggest test
FURIA’s Astana run has been a quiet bounce-back after their humiliating BLAST Rivals exit. The international roster around FalleN, KSCERATO, YEKINDAR and molodoy opened with a 2-0 demolition of Monte (six rounds conceded across Nuke and Overpass) and followed with another convincing win over HEROIC. Spirit are the step up — the 2025 PGL Astana champions, built around donk and sh1ro.
The map pool question
HLTV’s pre-match analytics make Spirit heavy favourites, but FURIA’s Overpass form has been one of the surprise stories of the tournament. If the veto lands on a FURIA-comfort map, the matchup tightens — but Spirit’s 27-consecutive-playoff-map streak across 2026 makes a clean closeout the most likely outcome.
MOUZ vs 9z is the other story
The South American side have been the tournament’s biggest surprise after back-to-back upsets — PARIVISION in R1, Falcons in R2 with a 13-1 Dust2 closeout. MOUZ are the more pedigreed roster on paper (xelex, torzsi, Jimpphat all 1.15+) but 9z’s form is undeniable. Aurora vs PARIVISION, HEROIC vs Gentle Mates, Falcons vs Monte and G2 vs The MongolZ round out a day where six teams will exit either through the gate or out the door.
