What is a molotov in CS2?
Fire grenades force players off positions. On T-side, a molotov thrown into an anchor's hold forces the CT to either rotate or eat 70+ damage. On CT-side, an incendiary thrown into a choke delays a T push by 4–6 seconds — often enough time for rotations to land. Because fire lasts several seconds, molotovs are also used to "deny retake" — thrown into the bomb plant to prevent defusal without being cleared first. In CS2, molotovs interact with smokes volumetrically — a molotov thrown into a smoke creates a hole in the cloud. Good teams coordinate molotov timing with push timing for maximum effect.
