Valve Quietly Adds Boost-Height Accuracy Penalty to CS2

Valve added weapon_accuracy_stack_boost_limit (default 2) — boost stacks above the limit get ladder-style inaccuracy penalties. Two-player boosts unaffected.

Valve Quietly Adds Boost-Height Accuracy Penalty to CS2

Valve has dropped a quiet but potentially meaningful Counter-Strike 2 update: a new server-side command, weapon_accuracy_stack_boost_limit, that applies ladder-style inaccuracy penalties to players stacked above the default limit of 2. Standard two-player boosts remain unaffected. Taller stacks become significantly less precise.

What the command actually does

Once the boost stack reaches the configured limit, players receive weapon-inaccuracy penalties matching ladder-climbing mechanics. Default is 2 — meaning a player standing on one teammate is unchanged, but stacks of three or more are degraded. Server operators can manually adjust the value for tournaments, custom servers, or community-specific rulesets.

Why now

Boosts have always been a structural element of CS — used to create off-angle positions, gain early information, or execute surprise rotations. But high-stack boosts have historically created exploit-like edge cases in pro play, where players could see or shoot over map geometry in ways the designers didn’t anticipate. The new command is a calibrated nerf: keep creative team play, limit the abusive top end.

The Cache changes

The same patch included another round of Cache adjustments — improved collision and clipping around windows, vents, and window covers; bullet impacts now display more accurately on window-cover models. Cache has received multiple updates since its April 2026 return. Other patch notes: fixed post-processing while switching spectator players, fixed stuck x-ray outlines, fixed incorrect damage overlay effects, improved grenade jump-throw consistency, AWP draw-to-idle animation tweaks. Server-configurable design means FACEIT and tournament organisers can choose their own boost-limit values — the new meta could split between casual and pro CS.
