Impact rating· Impact rating (HLTV)

Impact rating measures how often a player's kills actually shift the round — e.g. opening picks, clutches, anti-ecos that prevent economy damage. It's a component of HLTV 2.0 and explicitly rewards kills that matter.

What is impact rating in CS2?

Whereas raw K/D treats every kill equally, impact weighs kills by how much they change a round's win probability. An opening pick on the entry-fragger changes a round's math a lot; a late-round mop-up kill when the round is already won changes it very little. HLTV's impact component uses historical round-state data to estimate how much each kill shifted expected outcome, then aggregates those values per match. High-impact players typically open rounds, take duels that matter (retake AWPer, clutch situations) and play the star role on their team. Low-impact but high-K/D players often farm end-of-round kills; their rating tends to compress as sample grows.
