MR12· Max Rounds 12

MR12 is the current competitive format in CS2: each half has 12 rounds, the first team to 13 rounds wins, and overtime is played in MR3 (three rounds per half) if tied at 12-12.

What is MR12 in CS2?

MR12 was introduced in CS2 to shorten matches without sacrificing competitive integrity. The previous MR15 format (30 rounds total in regulation) was replaced with MR12 (24 rounds in regulation) because it reduced average match length by ~30 minutes while keeping the strategic depth of two halves plus economy. In MR12 each team plays 12 rounds on one side before switching sides; the first team to 13 rounds wins. Tied matches at 12-12 enter overtime played as MR3 (3 rounds per side, 6 rounds total per OT) until a team wins 4 OT rounds — so the final score of a dramatic OT map looks like 19-17 or 22-20, not 16-14 like it did in the MR15 days.
