Post-plant· Post-plant situation

Post-plant refers to the round state after the bomb has been planted. The T's hold crossfires to deny defuse while the CT's attempt to retake. Post-plant win rates are the main driver of T-side map winrate.

What is post-plant in CS2?

Post-plant is the most scrutinised phase of a T-side round. Once the bomb is down, the T's goal shifts from "take site" to "deny defuse" and their positioning becomes about trading. Good post-plant setups split a bombsite into crossfires so any CT push eats at least one pick before reaching the plant. Smoke and molotov usage in post-plant (e.g. molotov on the bomb to deny defuse) can flip the win rate by 10+ points. Pro teams track their post-plant win rate per map because it's a cleaner indicator of tactical sophistication than raw map winrate, which is confounded by pistol rounds and force-buy outcomes.
