Eco round· Economy round

An eco round is when a team saves their money rather than full-buying, spending little or nothing on weapons and utility. Teams eco after a series of losses to rebuild cash for a full buy next round.

What is an eco round in CS2?

Eco rounds are a deliberate economic sacrifice. Rather than spend $4,500+ on a full buy they likely can't afford to sustain, the team carries pistols and saves cash — typically keeping $0–$1,000 in spending per player and ending the round with $3,500+ banked. The expected outcome of an eco is a loss, but the compounding saving lets the team full-buy two rounds later. Eco strategy is central to CS2 round-by-round thinking: teams that manage eco cycles well win more rounds per dollar than teams that panic-force buy. Mid-round "anti-eco" purchases by the winning team (buying armor and grenades cheaply to defend against a predicted eco) further shift expected value.
